Apple TV - Streaming Digital Content in Classrooms
Requesting New Digital Content
Before streaming a movie or TV show, please submit a request so we can ensure it is available in the correct classroom and at the requested time.
How to request content:
Send an email (or a ticket) to: servicedesk@jlamiami.org
-
Include the following details in your request:
Name of the Movie or TV Show
Year of production (especially if multiple versions exist)
Date and time when you plan to stream it
Classroom or venue where the content will be displayed
Once your request is received, the Service Desk will verify that the content is purchased or included in the subscription and ensure it is available for your class.
Streaming Digital Content in the Classroom
Step 1: Switch the Smartboard Input
By default, the Zoom Room source on the smartboard is used to record and stream live classes.
To play digital content, switch to the Newline Smartboard home screen.
Select the Apple TV source on the smartboard.

Step 2: Navigate the Apple TV
Use the Apple TV remote to open the streaming app you need (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, or Hulu).
If the app is already signed in with the school account, you can access any purchased or subscription-included content.
Search for the movie or TV show you want to stream.

Step 3: Play the Content
Once you’ve located the content, start playback using the Apple TV remote.
The smartboard will display the content for the class.
Note: If multiple teachers are sharing the same account (for example, Netflix), please keep track of where you left off. You may need to restart or resume playback if another teacher has already streamed the same content earlier.
Tips and Best Practices
Always submit requests in advance to ensure the content is ready for your class or event.
Make sure the streaming app is already signed in with the school account before class.
Check the smartboard and Apple TV before the class starts to avoid delays.
